Crew Moves aboard - 25 August 2005

SETTLING INTO SHIPBOARD ROUTINES -- During crew move-aboard on Thursday, August 25, Navy Cdr. John Padfield, prospective commanding officer for San Antonio (LPD 17), moves through the chow line as the first in-service meal is dished up. The ship was officially delivered to the Navy on July 20, by the builder, Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NYSE:NOC) Ship Systems, and is the first in the class of technologically advanced amphibious transport dock ships providing enhanced survivability, state-of-the-art command-and control-capability, automated systems, modernized mission stations and enhanced ergonomics, which will greatly improve the quality of life at sea for the Sailors and Marines.
